Baggage Allowance

Starting Monday, September 11, 2017, Grupo Aeroméxico will update its baggage allowance guidelines and some of its ancillary prices.

Primary changes to the Group’s Baggage Allowance guidelines include

  • Grupo Aeroméxico will respect the interline baggage allowance indicated on the customer’s ticket when it includes coupons from other airlines featuring a baggage allowance unlike the allowance offered by Aeroméxico. GAM thus adheres to IATA Resolution 302 that establishes that the Marketing Carrier’s baggage allowance rules apply to all interline flights.

  • Reduction of the number of pounds/kilos permitted in the Economy cabin on service to and from Brazil, from 70 to 50 lbs. /32 to 23 kg, for each piece of luggage. Applies to tickets issued after September 11, 2017.

  • Implementing the excess weight charge to and from Brazil. This concept was not previously applied on this route.

Ancillary fee changes

  • UMNR (Unaccompanied Minor) fees increase to MXN 600 on domestic flights and USD 150 on international flights.

  • We are maintaining the benefit currently offered to UMNRs by charging USD 150 on flights to/from the U.S. under the “origin-destination” concept (including connecting flights not exceeding 24 hours), as long as such flights are booked in the same PNR.

  • Increases in PETC (Pet in Cabin) and AVIH (Animal in Hold) fees, standardizing both fees at MXN 1000 on domestic flights, and USD 125 on international flights.

  • Increase in the cost of TWOV (Transit without Visa) to USD 60.

  • Four new ancillaries for the collection of sports equipment transportation fees.

Airport interline baggage allowance procedure:

1. Validate the customer's outbound connection in Sabre, and verify the baggage allowance listed on the interline ticket:

2. During the check-in procedure, select the following type of waiver and enter it into the Remarks section to ensure the respecting of the baggage allowance listed on the interline ticket:

Waiver Type: CNX PSGR FRANCHISE
Remarks: CTE VCR INTERLINE

*** One piece can be exchanged for the baggage allowance free of charge, without involving an excess baggage fee. In case of musical instruments, customers can choose to take it as a carry on without paying for the service, as long as it does not exceed the 45 inches/1.15 m (length + width + high) limit, or check it in and pay for the service. This option does not apply between Mexico and the U.S./Canada in Tourist class where the baggage allowance is zero.
